Alternote is a note-taking app for Mac OS X that integrates with Evernote and aims to simplify note-taking and organization. Since Alternote is backed by Evernote, you can sync data between the two apps, while having an alternative note-taking app for your Mac. The software helps you focus on writing notes and other information by dimming the look of the interface and giving you the option to hide the sidebar while in writing mode. The search function, accessible right after the start, allows you to search within the titles and content of the notes. You can also customize the font, color scheme, and theme settings to suit your needs. Review: Alternote offers a stripped-down version of the Evernote app for Mac, ideal for those who are overwhelmed with all of Evernote’s features. This software aims to make note-taking, organizing, and finding notes easy while providing users with a well-designed interface. For those who use Evernote on other devices, Alternote supports Evernote integration, allowing you to sync your notes between the two apps. The interface is beautiful, yet simple, with intuitive controls and clear access to features. Similar to Evernote, the interface has three panes for notebooks, notes, and note taking. In the notebook panel, you can review your labels without having to switch to another view. Although you can bookmark a note in Alternote, these bookmarks do not sync with the Evernote app on your other devices. One of the drawbacks of the Alternote software is the limited Markdown support. If you type in Markdown in the app, it automatically converts to rich text. However, you can paste Markdown text into the application and the software will not modify it. Keyboard shortcuts make it easy to perform almost any task in the application. You can also customize the font size and type, although there are only seven font options. Distraction-free mode lets you hide the sidebar and dim the interface while you focus on typing.
