What is Dia ?
Empathy is a messaging program that supports text, voice, video chat, and file transfers over many different protocols. You can talk to him about your accounts on all these services and do all your conversations within one app. Empathy uses Telepathy for protocol support and has a Gossip-based user interface. Empathy is the default chat client in current versions of GNOME, making it easy for other GNOME applications to integrate collaboration functionality using Telepathy. Current features Multiprotocol: Google Talk (Jabber/XMPP), MSN, IRC, Salut, AIM, Facebook, Yahoo!, Gadu Gadu, Groupwise, ICQ and QQ. (Supported protocols depend on the Telepathy Connection Manager components installed.) Supports all protocols supported by Pidgin. File transfer for XMPP and local networks. Share and display location information. Private and group chat (with emoticons and spell checking). Recording of conversations. Automatic absence and prolonged presence. Dia is a GTK+ based diagramming program for Linux, Unix, Mac OS X and Windows released under the GPL license.
Dia is more or less inspired by the commercial Windows program Microsoft Office Visio, although more geared towards creating informal diagrams for occasional use. It can be used to draw many types of diagrams. It currently has special objects to help you draw entity-relationship diagrams, UML diagrams, flowcharts, network diagrams, and many other diagrams. It is also possible to add support for new shapes by writing simple XML files, using a subset of SVG to draw the shape.
